Jim Shankman is the author of twelve plays.    His play Suicide Math was presented in the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival.  Hi solo piece Kiss Your Brutal Hands is part of the 2013 United Solo Festival on Theatre Row.  Alien Child has had staged readings at The New Group and The Abingdon Theatre and a workshop production at T. Schreiber Studio.  Heatless Bastard was presented at the New Jersey Rep Monday Salon Reading Series and by Michael Howard Studios Works-In-Progress-Administration.  His plays Electric Light and Fortress of Solitude have also had developmental readings at The New Group.  Sleep With Me (a play with music) received a workshop production at The Emerging Artists Theatre Notes From A Page Festival.  A Jew From East Jesus is a Finalist of the 2013 Jewish Plays Project. 

Jim is also a lifelong actor.  He grew up in Chicago where he was part of the burgeoning Chicago Theatre scene before he moved to New York.  He has been very lucky over the years to study theatre with two of New York’s greatest theatre teachers, Michael Howard and Terry Schreiber.  He is currently the Director of Scene Study in the Conservatory Program at Michael Howard Studios.  He has a BA from Princeton in Philosophy and an MFA in Fiction from the Writing Program at Sarah Lawrence College.
