Jonathan Blitstein is an award-winning playwright/indie filmmaker and graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. Recent projects include the play “Keep Your Baggage With You at All Times” (New York Innovative Theater Award-Winner 2011, "Outstanding Full-Length Play Script") and “Squealer" starring Sarah Lemp and Nick Lawson (Amoralists/Adam Rapp's Hallway Trilogy). His debut feature film “Let Them Chirp Awhile,” starring Justin Rice (Mutual Appreciation) and Brendan Sexton III (AMC's The Killing) world-premiered on opening night at the Woodstock Film Festival in 2007, and played in theaters around the country and on TV, worldwide. Blitstein is a member of the Rising Phoenix Repertory, The LoNyLA project, and his newest play will premiere as part of the CINO Nights Series in April 2012. He is the co-founder of Lesser America, an acclaimed new theater company. Back in his Chicago days, Jonathan studied acting at the Piven Theater Workshop and The Second City. He is currently pursuing his MA in Theater History and Criticism at Brooklyn College.
